Compliance Officer | Environmental Regulation Taranaki | Permanent Opportunity
Talent Network is recruiting on behalf of an established regional organisation seeking a Compliance Officer to join its environmental compliance team. This is a varied, field-based role combining environmental monitoring, investigation, stakeholder engagement and regulatory compliance. You’ll work across a diverse range of activities and industries, helping ensure resource use and environmental activities meet legislative and consent requirements.
The role You’ll be involved in: * Undertaking environmental compliance inspections and monitoring * Responding to pollution incidents and public complaints * Investigating potential breaches of environmental legislation * Collecting field samples and evidence * Working with consent holders to achieve and maintain compliance * Providing practical technical and regulatory advice * Supporting appropriate enforcement action where required * Building relationships with landowners, industry, iwi/hapū and the wider community The role is primarily based in Taranaki, with regular travel throughout the region and participation in an after-hours on-call roster.
About you We’re looking for someone who brings: * A relevant qualification in Resource Management, Environmental Science, Natural Science or a related discipline * Ideally 2+ years’ experience within environmental compliance, enforcement, monitoring or a relevant industry * Strong investigation and problem-solving skills * Excellent written and verbal communication * Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders * Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 and associated legislation * A practical, organised and resilient approach to your work Experience within the primary, energy or civil construction sectors would be advantageous.
