The Role:
Our client is a market leader in electrical/automation engineering manufacturing and contracting, based in Napier, the company has 50 + years in business and celebrates continual growth across NZ.
The team are seeking to recruit a Junior Accountant reporting into the Group Financial Controller. This is an ideal opportunity for an early career professional looking to gain hands-on experience across both financial and management accounting principles in a multi-trade-based growth sector.
Duties will include:
· Assisting with project costing, management and financial accounting and compliance activities across multi-business units
· Handling financial accounting, PAYE, GST, FBT and reconciliation tasks
· Maintaining accurate financial records ensuring compliance with lRD and statutory requirements
· Reconcile hours and costs from projects and job records to support time tracking and wage control via ERP systems
· Perform bank reconciliation, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
· Support A/R and credit control, ensuring timely invoicing across projects
· Assist in managing supplier accounts, creditor applications and debtor follow ups
· Assist with workshop and manufacturing cost analysis and WlP reporting
· Engage in continuous improvement and supported training opportunities

Our ideal person:
· Previous experience in an accounting role (a min of 2 years) ideally within a trades, civil construction or project-based sector
· Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business (preferred CAANZ membership, or working towards it)
· Excellent software knowledge, proficient in MS Office, Xero and ERP systems
· Great communication and relationship building skills
· High financial literacy, attention to detail able to work under pressure with strong time management
